Take the measure of Friend and Foe …

Posted on July 30, 2008. Filed under: Personal Magnetism |

Motive is an easy channel of influence. Nobody does any favors without a motive.

See motive in everything and then classify motives into acceptable and non acceptable.

Watch out for personal weaknesses and those that take advantage of them.  Shrewd minds are deep and perceive the trend of a designed conversation

Analyze the motives of others. Only then can you take the measure of friend or foe. Any analysis of human nature, no matter in what direction applied, results in the development of intuition.

Form the fixed habit of instantly turning every circumstance and statement around so as to present its ‘Reverse’ side.

Never take anything for granted.

The Last Lecture …

Randy Pausch died on Jul 25, aged 47.  Outside the classroom, he gained public fame for delivering what would come to be known as “The Last Lecture”. On Sept. 18, 2007, only a month after doctors told him that he had three-to-six months to live following a recurrence of pancreatic cancer, he presented a lecture called “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” to a packed auditorium at Carnegie Mellon.

The moving and often humorous talk recounted his efforts to achieve such childhood dreams as becoming a professional football player, experiencing zero gravity and developing Disney World attractions. In the process, he shared his insights on finding the good in other people, working hard to overcome obstacles and living generously.

“If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself,” Pausch said. “The dreams will come to you.”

Habit and Mind …

Your Mind is the direct governing power of your body.

And your State of Mind affects your whole body.

Fixed Inclinations rule every intelligent person.

As you see yourself or should see yourself, others will see you. What you are in relation to yourself, you will be towards others.

When you fail to respect yourself, you show it in your manner and bearing towards others.

Habits make or mar the clearness of mind and vital existence.

Habit culture is best for securing control over the body and Habits are fixed methods of doing things.

Whatever you make up your mind to accomplish – that will come to pass.

The Only Limits are in your Mind.

A Dream …

A while back, I received a mail from a  young friend. Here it is …

Interesting dream I had yesterday.  I read an interview with Jack Gifford (Founder, AMD & Maxim) who is an egotistic, aggresive, abrasive, but very competent ex-CEO of a Company  that interested me.  So I went to sleep and dreamt about meeting this guy in a conference room and he says …:
“Do you still think that you can do anything?          Or, do you think you can do just one thing but do it very well”.
That was it.  I don’t know what to make of it … but strange and interesting.

Any interpretations???

for Self Mastery, set Goals for Yourself …

Posted on July 22, 2008. Filed under: Personal Magnetism |

There is nothing so dreary as the empty mind. It can only be countered by having a goal –
– for the day,
– for the week,
– for the month,
– for the year and
– a life goal.

Have no idleness in your mind, otherwise power slips away. Do not let the mind drift. It drifts when it satisfies the desire for entertainment and for being pleased.

Let no time be wasted in idle talk, idle thinking and useless activities. Thought is the mainspring of life and hence it has to be cultivated. Thought must be constant, deep and diverse. Only by hard thinking does the mind grow.

A thinking mind is necessarily powerful. Keep thinking. Develop the power of thought in the spare moments of the day. Intense wishing stimulates deeper thinking.
